RBOB Crack Spreads have widen by $22/barrel since Gaza War - well above historical levels - thanks to disruptions in the Red Sea, Ukraine bombing of Russian refineries, Russia inability to repair said refiners due to sanctions, limited refining capacity world-wide - all happening ahead of driving season in Northern hemisphere. Additionally, longer shipping time (Red Sea disruptions, piracy, & low waters in Panama Canal) for all cargoes has boosted sales of bunker fuel, used as ship fuel, helping refiners that sell the product American refiners have distinct advantage sourcing crude domestically & from Canada/Mexico via pipeline and super cheap Nat Gas In the week ended March 29, motor gasoline inventories were about -3% below the 5-yr avg for this time of year, while distillate fuel inventories were -7% below $CRAK $VLO $PSX $MPC $XOM

US DOE cancels 3M barrels of oil delivery for Aug & Sept to the SPR - bids were due March 26 & April 2, respectively Crude oil futures are at their highest level since late Oct w/ the market bracing for a potential escalation in Middle East & Ukraine-Russia tensions. Also, not helping, strengthening in differentials for heavy crudes in the US Gulf Coast amid SPR buybacks and other factors S&P: SPR still expected to receive 18.7M barrels b/n now & end of Sept and generate just above 100Kbpd of crude demand SPR reserves: 363.6M barrels (as of Apr 2) DOE is nearing completion of its commitment to return all 180M barrels withdrawn from the emergency crude stockpile through its 3-pronged replenishment strategy. That strategy entailed direct purchases w/ revs from emergency sales; exchange returns that include a premium of oil above the volume delivered; and a legislative fix in 2022 that eliminated SPR sales unrelated to supply disruptions $USO $XLE $OIH $CRAK $UGA
