HCA Healthcare shares fell in Tuesday's session after the company released preliminary second-quarter 2026 results and lowered its full-year guidance, citing a worsening payer mix as more patients lost health insurance marketplace coverage. HCA now expects fiscal 2026 EPS of
$28.70-
$30.50, down from its prior forecast of
$29.10-
$30.50, while adjusted EBITDA guidance was reduced to
$15.4-
$16.1 billion from
$15.55-
$16.45 billion. Revenue guidance was modestly narrowed to
$77.0-
$79.5 billion.
Despite the weaker outlook, preliminary second-quarter revenue rose to approximately
$20.23 billion from
$18.61 billion a year ago and exceeded the
$19.39 billion consensus estimate. The quarter also benefited from roughly
$400 million in additional Medicaid Supplemental Payment Program income, primarily related to Florida.
