China’s liquefied natural gas imports are skyrocketing:
Weekly LNG deliveries into mainland China jumped +137% week-over-week in the week ending July 19th, to nearly 2.0 million metric tons, the highest in 22 months.
China’s LNG imports have more than quadrupled since mid-February.
The same week also marked the first US-origin LNG cargo to arrive in China since February 2025.
This also follows an +8.3% YoY surge in monthly LNG imports in June, to 5.68 million tons, marking the 2nd consecutive monthly increase.
Meanwhile, Australia supplied 43% of China's LNG imports so far in July, well ahead of Malaysia, Russia, and Qatar.
China is stockpiling LNG.
