Retail options trading is getting seriously aggressive.
Citadel Securities data shows retail traders averaged
$5.4B in daily options premium in July, up 65% YoY and the biggest July jump on record.
The money is clearly rotating into the hottest themes:
Semis +253%
Space +223%
Broad ETFs +173%
Meanwhile, Rare Earths -79%, Crypto -72%, Nuclear -68%.
That tells me this isn’t a broad speculative wave. Retail is concentrating on high-volatility AI, chips and space trades.

$SOXX have both pulled back hard from recent highs. Retail is chasing volatility, not buying everything.
