On March 3, 2026, President Trump publicly threatened to cut off all US trade & dealings w/ Spain.
“We’re going to cut off all trade w/ Spain. We don’t want anything to do w/ Spain.”
He said he instructed Treasury Secretary Bessent to “cut off all dealings.”
Spain refused to allow the US to use jointly operated military bases (eg: Rota & Morón) for operations tied to US/Israeli strikes against Iran.
