Gilat Satellite Networks announced a multimillion-dollar order for its Sidewinder electronically steered antenna (ESA) terminals from a major global avionics company, with deliveries expected within the next six months. The order covers Gilat’s Sidewinder ESA platform, developed by its Stellar Blu unit.
The Sidewinder ESA terminals are designed for a wide range of aviation segments, including commercial, business, VIP, government, and military applications, enabling reliable, high-speed in-flight connectivity for passengers and crew. The system supports high-throughput satellite networks and is compatible with both GEO satellites and OneWeb’s LEO constellation.
Sidewinder’s electronic beam-steering technology provides advantages over traditional mechanically steered antennas, including faster satellite acquisition, improved reliability, and reduced maintenance requirements.
