GKN Aerospace and the U.S. Air Force are putting
$8.4M into this TITAN-AM program to seriously push titanium 3D printing forward.
They’re focusing on Laser Metal Deposition (wire-based 3D printing) to build larger titanium structures for both defence and commercial aerospace. And they’re also working through the unsexy but important stuff like inspection methods, simulation, and proving the parts are reliable enough to fly.
