$CPRT Tesla and Waymo autonomous cars are going to be a big overhang for this company imo at 10x+ revs and slowing growth (i.e., also losing share to $RBA IAA). Probably needs to go 40 zone (or lower).

$CPRT there is a lot to like about this Copart management team in terms of what they built from the ground up. But they are turning out to be a bit too obstinate with respect to investing outside core insurance salvage biz which will have real challenges if autonomous cars really take off. Maybe the plan is to continue to build cash for huge share repurchase and/or acquisition in wholesale used car space. Meanwhile $RBA looks much healthier at the moment -- they have healthy diversification away from insurance salvage in used equipment sales.

wonder if $CPRT is losing slight amount of market share to $RBA IAA. RBA talked about a competitive win in Australia in Q4 and recently disclosed a new large insurer win in the UK. volumes would kick in late 2024, then again in 2025 probably. Perhaps CPRT needs to add new adjacent markets with large TAM to differentiate from IAA -- ie., more buyers/auction liquidity from adding more wholesale cars etc.

$RBA should be great theme but not sure it is explosive mover. They are in debt paydown mode from IAA acquisition (-- $CPRT) competitor re duopoly in salvage cars but also has kicker on fed gov't/DoD surplus contracts and global auction biz for heavy equipment.

$KAR it also makes sense for $CPRT to acquire Openlane because it acts as natural countervailing force vs total loss ratios. If less cars are totaled they will be sold via lightly damaged, clean title wholesale market. Those come with higher ASPs for CPRT too. And probably more units per year. It can take a shot across bow at $RBA who stepped on their toes with the IAA acquisition.
