$NVA Location and Impact on Salmon VS NAK
Pebble Mine is located near the Bristol Bay River basin, one of the most important spawning grounds for wild salmon in the world, particularly sockeye salmon. This project has raised serious concerns due to the risk of water contamination from mine discharges, which could threaten the entire food chain and the downstream fishing industry.
Estelle Project is located further inland, in the Rainy Pass District region, near the Alaska Range Mountains. Although it is also in a sensitive ecosystem, it is less directly connected to a watershed as critical as Bristol Bay.
