The company also offers customized precision steel components. It offers its products and services to the automotive, energy, industrial equipment, mining, construction, rail, aerospace and defense, heavy truck, agriculture, and power generation sectors. The company was formerly known as TimkenSteel Corporation and changed its name to Metallus Inc. in February 2024. Metallus Inc. was founded in 1899 and is headquartered in Canton, Ohio.

Metallus (`MTUS`) is this morning's standout. The Defense Logistics Agency gave it a sole-source contract worth up to **$995M** over five years to supply steel for 155mm artillery shells to every service branch. That's a ceiling, not guaranteed spending, but it's a rare large munitions award for a small company. This covers Thursday through this morning. Today's Pentagon contract list usually posts around 2pm PT, so it isn't included yet. $MTUS

$MTUS Metallus awarded $995M Department of War contract Metallus has been awarded a maximum $995,000,000 firm-fixed-price contract for High Fragmentation 1 Steel. The was a sole-source acquisition using justification 10 U.S. Code 3204 (a)(3)(A), as stated in Federal Acquisition Regulation 6.103-3 (b)(1). This is a five-year contract with no option periods. The performance completion date is Sept. 24, 2031. Using military services are Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and Space Force. Type of appropriation is fiscal 2025 through 2029 transaction funds.
