Hexas Biomass → Acquired the entire company (IP, giant crops + team). Wendy Owens and her team join Bioleum. Includes all work done with Shell GameChanger on energy crops (25-30 t/acre → >100 barrels of biofuel/acre)
Virent / Marathon → Exclusive license +
$14 million investment. Bioleum uses the former Virent facility in Madison, Wisconsin, for the pilot and integrates Virent's BioForming® technology (decades of development on drop-in hydrocarbons from plant sugars)
€20 million raised in May, with another €30 million or more in the closing of the Series A investment round.
Result: a single vertical system (crops → pre-treatment → refining → SAF/diesel/renewable gasoline) with the best parts of RenFuel, Hexas, and Virent/Marathon, all under one roof and without external dependencies.
