Anyone have good knowledge of Cargill? I'm inquiring about a tiny CEA lettuce grower named
$LOCL. They are last of the publicly traded CEA companies (except the pot growers) still standing. They are in hock to Cargill for about half a billion, just excused some debt, and Charles Schwab Sr just bought controlling interest for a tiny
$25M. Its a real dog with only 40M rev and losses 300% of rev. I suspect its being set up for easy bk with Schwab as stalking horse. But, Cargill and Schwab may just be hobby "patrons" of a little farmer company, like a big boy equivalent of my gardening? But Cargill has been carrying them for years, with a dozen technical defaults on loans, all excused with penalties and grants of warrants. So, any insight? Is it normal for Cargill to throw around money for one of the family members pet projects? It runs counter to the way any of the several billionaires I've dealt with do business, which is bottom dollar ruthless.
