Would love to have Marcbullish give just 1 example how tariffs take money out of middle class workers?!?! In fact, tariffs PUT money into the middle class thru job creation/protection. Give you an example. Since 2011 I have lived in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru; both Ecuador and Peru both used tariffs. While living in Ecuador, if I wanted to make a margarita, a bottle of Jose Cuervo that cost
$16 in the U.S. would cost
$58 dollars in Ecuador. So instead of drinking margaritas, I would buy vodka or rum MADE IN ECUADOR. When I wanted a laundry machine or stove/range for my apartment, I bought appliances made in Ecuador! Because tariffs created a need for such appliances to be made in Ecuador, jobs in Ecuador were created. Because Europe has for decades used tariffs against the U.S., we can not sell cars in Europe while they would send their cars to the U.S. WITHOUT tariffs and this put U.S. and we lost jobs!
