Holder concentration and active addresses give useful on-chain context for a coin page. The Mboum crypto holders endpoint returns summary counts plus a list of top addresses for one cryptocurrency so you can show who holds the largest balances without building a separate chain indexer. After this walkthrough you will call holders with a coin key, read the meta summary fields, and print address, balance, and share from the data list.

Important: the address list is in data, not body. Use this when you need a holder overview for a coin profile, a concentration panel, or a quick check of the largest balances returned for that key.

👉 To access this endpoint, you must obtain an API key: https://mboum.com/pages/api

The Crypto Holders Endpoint

Holders live under GET /v1/crypto/holders.

Documentation:
https://docs.mboum.com/#crypto-GETapi-v1-crypto-holders

Request

GET https://api.mboum.com/v1/crypto/holders?key=bitcoin
Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_KEY

Parameters

  • key — required (example bitcoin)

Choosing the Request

For this walkthrough send key=bitcoin. That required parameter selects which cryptocurrency you want holder data for. Leave other invented filters off; this route only documents the key query parameter for the request.

Use the same key string your product already stores for the coin. The sample sticks with bitcoin so the response shape is easy to compare against the docs while you wire the first request.

Sample Response

Shortened example of meta plus one address in data:

{
  "meta": {
    "key": "bitcoin",
    "holderCount": 50000000,
    "dailyActive": 900000,
    "total": 20
  },
  "data": [
    {
      "address": "bc1qexampleaddress000000000000000000",
      "balance": 250000.5,
      "share": 1.25
    }
  ]
}

Python Example

import requests

url = "https://api.mboum.com/v1/crypto/holders"
headers = {"Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"}
params = {"key": "bitcoin"}

response = requests.get(url, headers=headers, params=params)
response.raise_for_status()
payload = response.json()
print(payload["meta"]["holderCount"], payload["meta"]["dailyActive"])
for row in payload.get("data", [])[:5]:
    print(row["address"], row["balance"], row["share"])

Understanding the Response

Meta fields include key, holderCount, dailyActive, and total. meta.holderCount and meta.dailyActive are the summary counts for the coin. meta.total is how many addresses are in this data list, not the overall holder count.

Each item in data includes address, balance, and share. Both balance and share are numbers, so you can sort or chart them directly. Read the summary fields from meta first, then walk the address rows when you need concentration detail.

Walkthrough

  • Call holders with key=bitcoin and confirm meta.key matches the coin you requested.
  • Print meta.holderCount and meta.dailyActive for the overview stats on your coin page.
  • Loop the first few data rows and print address, balance, and share, remembering that meta.total counts those list rows.

Watch for This

meta.holderCount and meta.dailyActive are the summary counts. meta.total is how many addresses are in this data list, not the holder count. balance and share are numbers.

Once the summary and address list look right, keep reading from data for the table and from meta for the headline counts on your coin overview.
