Poland has been reclassified as a developed market by S&P Global, creating a potentially attractive opportunity for investors seeking stronger growth at valuations well below those of U.S. equities. The upgrade means Polish stocks will eventually move from emerging-market to developed-market indexes, with the reconstitution scheduled for September 2027.
Despite the Polish market having roughly doubled the S&P 500's performance over the past three years, the iShares MSCI Poland ETF trades at just over half the S&P 500's forward P/E valuation, according to FactSet. The reclassification could also attract additional institutional and passive-fund flows as Poland gains greater representation in developed-market benchmarks.
Investors can gain exposure through ETFs such as iShares MSCI Poland ETF, while Polish companies including CD Projekt and GPW offer more targeted exposure.
