$ARRNF If the US really wants to become independent of rare earths in a short period of time, it would have to do more.
It has the power to speed up the whole process, but it is not doing so.
However, I found an interesting statement when searching on Chat GPT.
I quote:
3. Lobbying and influence of major investors
MP Materials has strong ties to major US investors (e.g., BlackRock, Vanguard, DoD itself).
ARE, on the other hand, is an Australian-run company with a US subsidiary.
This is politically more sensitive, even if the projects are located in Wyoming.
The US is reluctant to support foreign-run companies when it comes to critical raw materials.
(Although ARE is becoming increasingly “Americanized,” e.g., through its location in Wyoming, its stock exchange listing remains in Australia.)
In short:
MP is “domestically cleaner” for government deals. ARE is (still) an outsider.
