Relative Strength Index measures recent gains against recent losses on the price series you choose.
The RSI endpoint returns timestamped RSI points for one ticker after you set interval, series type, time period, and limit. Meta labels the indicator as Relative Strength Index (RSI). The same interval and series type options used on SMA and EMA apply here, including the documented default limit of 50.

The Endpoint
GET /v1/markets/indicators/rsi returns RSI for one ticker. The sample request is ticker=AAPL, interval=1d, series_type=close, time_period=50, and limit=50.
Parameters
- ticker: Required. One ticker per request. The example is
AAPL. - interval: Required. Allowed values and approximate ranges:
1m— about 1 day5m— about 1 month15m— about 1 month30m— about 1 month1d— about 5 years1wk— about 5 years1mo— about 10 years3mo— about 10 years
- series_type: Chooses which price the RSI uses. Use
open,close,high, orlow. The example usesclose. - time_period: The window length. The example is
50. - limit: How many points to return. The example is
50. The docs say the default limit is 50. Adjust it if you need more or fewer points than that default.
Python Example
The script requests RSI on daily closes for AAPL and prints each timestamp and RSI. Send a Bearer token from your Mboum API key.
import requests
url = "https://api.mboum.com/v1/markets/indicators/rsi"
headers = {"Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_API_KEY"}
params = {
"ticker": "AAPL",
"interval": "1d",
"series_type": "close",
"time_period": 50,
"limit": 50,
}
response = requests.get(url, headers=headers, params=params)
response.raise_for_status()
payload = response.json()
for item in payload["body"]:
print(item["timestamp"], item["RSI"])
Understanding the Response
A successful response has meta and body. Meta echoes the symbol, interval, series type, indicator, and time period. Each body item has timestamp and RSI. The shortened example below is one point.
{
"meta": {
"symbol": "AAPL",
"interval": "1d",
"series_type": "close",
"indicator": "Relative Strength Index (RSI)",
"time_period": 50
},
"body": [
{
"timestamp": 1700000000,
"RSI": 54.3
}
]
}
Print the pairs in order to rebuild the RSI series. Confirm meta series_type matches what you requested so you do not mix a close-based RSI with an open- or high-based series in the same chart.
Key Fields
- symbol, interval, series_type, indicator, and time_period: Meta for the request. In the sample, the indicator is Relative Strength Index (RSI), the symbol is
AAPL, the interval is1d, the series type isclose, and the time period is 50. - timestamp: The point’s time. The shortened example uses 1700000000.
- RSI: The Relative Strength Index at that timestamp. The shortened example uses 54.3.
Practical Use Cases
Daily RSI on closes
For a standard daily RSI on closes, send ticker=AAPL, interval=1d, series_type=close, time_period=50, and limit=50. Verify meta shows Relative Strength Index (RSI) and series_type close, then print each timestamp and RSI.
Choosing the price series
series_type chooses which price the RSI uses: open, close, high, or low. The example uses close. If you switch series type, treat the result as a different indicator series even when the ticker and interval stay the same. Pick the interval whose history window matches the chart horizon you care about, and keep one ticker only.
