@SBRiviera These sites are all automated. They don't actually use real data but just recycle second hand info from various sources. For example if you look at Yahoo's own record of what $AMD earnings per share are you will notice that for the trailing 12 months it is in the $3 area. That gives a P/E (trailing) of less that 50. The numbers that are relevant are not the GAAP numbers which have irrelevant amortization of intangibles mostly from the $XLNX buyout. Yet the actual numbers that everyone looks at and that are published are the adjusted ones that ignore that though there may be other minor adjustments. The forward numbers are adjusted and so will give a P/E of 20-30 given the current price. There is potential for much growth also if the projections for "AI" turn out as many anticipate. I also think $AMD is positioned to be a broad solution provider for many enterprises and has established enough customer relationships to make this very lucrative.

User Image ecoethcon Posted - 10/29/24

@OptionsPlayers no they made $.92 cents this Q alone. I don't know what numbers those are you cite. Remember the GAAP EPS includes amortization of intangibles (from $XLNX buy so is largely not relevant...92 cents x 4 is $3.68 per share which gives a 40-45 P/E

User Image ecoethcon Posted - 10/24/24

@BradRock Ok even though initially they said 2nd half.. it looks like the updated saying it will close in Q3. This wont affect the non GAAP numbers and that is the only thing cited. Already the $XLNX deal clouds the picture for some time and so the GAAP earnings are of no consequence. Silo AI was a private company in any case.

User Image ecoethcon Posted - 09/24/24

@FFGarcia Don't just look up numbers. Read the financials to see the quality of the earnings. For example $AMD GAAP earnings have been encumbered by the meaningless amortization of goodwill from the $XLNX acquisition. Has no bearing on its valuation.

$XLNX Xilinx’s focus on programmable logic devices makes it a leader in chip technology, benefiting from growth in AI and data centers. A strong tech pick. Check out my website, link in bio.

User Image ChristaBoarts Posted - 2 months ago

$XLNX Known for its innovations in programmable logic devices, this stock is crucial in the semiconductor industry. Its focus on FPGA technology supports its strong position in tech hardware.

User Image ecoethcon Posted - 07/31/24

@Landsquid123 That's just wrong.....look at the last 4 earnings numbers. They earned already $69 cents this Q. That already puts them at around that number...last 3Q were about that.. You may wonder why these sites have it wrong. They are probably reading the boilerplate on the 10Q 10K which figures in amortization of goodwill from the $XLNX buy. But goodwill let alone its amortization is irrelevant to the valuation and that's why everyone except dumb AI ignores it just as they do when companies have a big book value only because of goodwill. This is one reason people look at "tangible book value"

User Image InvestmentPROO Posted - 07/29/24

$XLNX Is this dead?

User Image ecoethcon Posted - 04/24/24

@Burky90 their numbers for trailing P/E are not right either. Some systems count the negative goodwill amortization form the $XLNX purchase which is not all relevant to the valuation of the company. $AMD consistently earns from $2.50 to $5.00 per share (which will go up). That gives a P/E of about 30 to 60 at these levels.

$XLNX wader brought me here...

User Image ReturnoftheKing Posted - 02/22/24

$SMCI sold $NVDA calls, bought puts on a bunch of semis, $AMD $AVGO $XLNX , I think the bull market is over, we won't get Fed rate cuts until we are well into a bear market.

User Image rosswestgate Posted - 01/30/24

$AMD so the $xlnx acq was an absolute hog.

User Image BuyHighSellLowGER Posted - 01/24/24

$AMD Glad I got those from the $XLNX takeover. At least one AI hype tech stock in my portfolio after all the SaaS names were left behind in 2021.

User Image ecoethcon Posted - 01/23/24

@snipervest @TradeN4Cash That can't be right...I don't care what automated web site that may come from. If you a look at P/E adjusted for Goodwill related to $XLNX buy then it could be in the thousands and will stay high until that is amortized fully. If you go by what all analysts are looking at then they have made over $2.50/share in the last 12 months and will make between that and 2 or 3x that in the next 12 so looking at p/e 's going forward from around 30 to 60 or so. You can't have one that high and the other that low.

User Image Bub_257 Posted - 01/22/24

@FreeMoneyandFed I don't disagree, $AMD is playing catchup. $AMD earnings have not been as good since the $XLNX aquisition.

@Goodlife3600 i would better read lawyers layout in posted link. maybe it could be "force sell result" in companies like ETORO, Ribinhood and so on. but in my own reality i saw this month $XLNX shares in one of my customers account, and as far as i remember AMD acquired Xilinx already few years ago. also a buyout/merger. but i personally saw shares of Xilinx still in bank investing account. unsold. i am not saying that it is not possible delist after buyout - but that is a bit different story. but to force sell there is LAW ESTABLISHED procedures, and just a "voting" is not an argument. must be achieved threshold (in link i see 95% total ownership, not just voting rights) and only after procedure may be started. of course - sometimes that is not best to stay with unlisted shares, which are more difficult to sell, but that is different question. and we are discussing force sell, NOT just delisting. these are different procedures (delist and force sell)

@Volk_Bremen So, before I block you, care to admit your're wrong, or you want to continue to be a "brave" keyboard toxic warrior? Certainly, we can be wrong here. Oh, U forgot $MYOK didn't you? Original call on $GLYC from $4 to $26. $XLNX from $45 to over $200. Now, apologize for your wicked ways.

User Image Bub_257 Posted - 1 year ago

@begworthy $AMD has not done much since the $XLNX aquisition. I have been with AMD since 2018. I agree with you, brutal three months. I am going to hold until the next earnings report. The margins on the XLNX stuff must not be as good as the AMD stuff.

User Image NiaMonique2020 Posted - 1 year ago

$MF ACTUALLY READ THE PAPER WORK!!! THATS THE PROBLEM WITH EVERYONE!!! $BAC $XLNX $NXTT someone give this guy a call

User Image ecoethcon Posted - 1 year ago

@CounterIntuitive @Traidn You can also go directly to the earnings releases and calculate it yourself. The sites you are referring to are often like Finviz done by dumb algos. I suspect that what the algo is doing is using published GAAP numbers. By those standards for example First Republic Bank (FRC) should have been bought out close to $100 per share. In the case of $AMD the GAAP numbers are skewed by the amortization of goodwill due mostly to the $XLNX acquisition. This is an intangible whose actual value is not very rigorously based and should therefore be ignored and thereby give an adjustment to the GAAP eps. The adjusted EPS values are the ones I am citing and that most reasonable sites and all analysts go by.

User Image ecoethcon Posted - 04/29/23

@JustAGoat @billbraski1777 @VGWisdom That would ease some concerns right now... who can feel comfortable with politicians trading stock among which is $AMD and then sounding off hawkish sentiments and even actions...ugly stuff. The reality is that people will start to realize it is not only a better choice to go with EPYCs right now over now ancient $INTC offerings but because of the cost savings (never mind the performance boosts) on energy alone the big cloud platforms have no choice but convert in order to be competitive....that not only means more direct sales of certain data center chips but a stronger relationship with $AMD all across the computing hardware infrastructure which translates into synergies with $XLNX and AMD Pensando offerings. Those acquisitions looking better than ever.

User Image ecoethcon Posted - 04/27/23

@baitnswitch2 @HankRearden666 No actually the size of the market could decrease and $AMD could still have a massive increase in revenue from businesses. It is also not just cloud and server infrastructure but all CPU s that a large tech firm will have to buy. Now that $AMD has $XLNX and Pensando they can offer a total solution that because of the energy efficiencies saves customers money when they upgrade. Look at the case studies on their website. Her is drop off in $INTC revenues...all while the market size has stayed fairly constant or even increased a bit.

User Image ecoethcon Posted - 1 year ago

$AMD $QQQ Still 🥚🥚🥚 tremely bullish here. AI/robotics/AIoT is getting hot. $XLNX deal looking better and better but my fav for a pure play is $QUIK... so many once forgotten stocks are running...just a matter of time.

User Image ecoethcon Posted - 03/27/23

$AMD We bounced exactly off the 10 day sma where I was looking for support. Chart shaping up nicely...if you are playing this for the 2023-2024 cycle which includes both the $INTC retrenchment and the more digitization in the world economy especially new edge AI apps (everything is going to have a chip in it of some sort...and that is why the $XLNX buy was so crucial even though it was not cheap).
