$CPRI $TPR Bloomberg survey shows Capri could fall to low $20s if buyout fails Capri Holdings (CPRI) shares could fall to the low-to-mid $20s if Tapestry's (TPR) $57 per share takeover is successfully blocked by the Federal Trade Commission, Yiqin Shen of Bloomberg reports, citing a survey of 20 merger-arbitrage specialists. The survey, conducted on Tuesday, focuses on merger-arbitrage estimates on the Capri's downside price - a level that reflects the stock's fundamental value by the end of 2024, when the outcome of the FTC's challenge is expected to be either upheld or overturned in court, Shen notes. Shares of Capri Holdings are down nearly 4% in midday trading.

@nikerun2121 $TPR $CPRI Come on. Vietnam sweatshop Weitzman sneaker 400.00 at $JWN Jimmy Choo $ 900.00 Macys lists 131 Kate Spade bags out of how many items? The Bimbos overpaying because of lack of competition need protection? ROTFL You are getting butt reamed by illegals and H1B Visa workers derpressing your wages so the borders are open! The corrupt democrat machine did not get their bribe and stockholders got butt reamed as a result. This is a third world craphole now.

$CPRI $TPR I hate to say it but after a prelim. reading of the FTC’s claim, they have a good argument. The 33K employed number will be hard to maneuver around as they will argue risk of unemployment due to inevitable downsizing post merger. That makes for a difficult counter-claim. Wouldn’t be surprised if CPRI gets trimmed another 10% before it’s all said and done. If so I’ll look to start a position in CPRI then.

$CPRI $TPR The FTC sued to block Tapestry’s proposed $8.5 billion acquisition of Capri. The agency determined that the deal would eliminate direct competition between the two companies’ brands and would give Tapestry a dominant share of the “accessible luxury” handbag market. The commission voted unanimously on the matter. Tapestry stated, “We have strong legal arguments in defense of this transaction and look forward to presenting them in court and working expeditiously to close the transaction in calendar year 2024.”

The U.S. FTC is SUING to block Tapestry's $8.5 billion acquisition of Capri Holdings, the owner of Michael Kors. The FTC argues that the merger could eliminate significant competition between the brands and dominate the 'accessible luxury' handbag market $TPR and $CPRI defend the deal, stating it is "pro-competitive" and won't limit competition. Tapestry: 'The FTC fundamentally MISUNDERSTANDS both the marketplace and the way in which consumers shop.' 'We have strong legal arguments in defense of this transaction and look forward to presenting them in court and working expeditiously to close the transaction in calendar year 2024.' Despite the FTC's objections, the merger has received regulatory approvals from the European Union and Japan, and would bring together luxury brands like Kate Spade and Jimmy Choo. However, the FTC also raises concerns that the merger could negatively affect competition for employees, impacting wages and benefits.

$CPRI $TPR Capri 'strongly disagrees' with FTC's decision to block Tapestry deal Capri Holdings (CPRI) issued the following statement in response to the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's unprecedented challenge to the proposed acquisition of Capri by Tapestry (TPR): "Capri Holdings strongly disagrees with the FTC's decision. The market realities, which the government's challenge ignores, overwhelmingly demonstrate that this transaction will not limit, reduce, or constrain competition. Tapestry and Capri operate in the fiercely competitive and highly fragmented global luxury industry. Consumers have hundreds of handbag choices at every price point across all channels, and barriers to entry are low. Capri intends to vigorously defend this case in court alongside Tapestry and complete the pending acquisition. The U.S. FTC is the only regulator that did not approve this transaction, which received required approvals from all other jurisdictions. We remain confident in this combination and the value it will bring to all stakeholders."

$TPR $CPRI "We have full confidence in the merits and pro-competitive nature of this transaction. It will bring significant benefits to the combined company’s customers, employees, partners, and shareholders in the U.S. and around the world. We have strong legal arguments in defense of this transaction and look forward to presenting them in court and working expeditiously to close the transaction in calendar year 2024.” Really happy to see that bunch of dipsheets at the FTC are being taken to court and that Tapestry is fighting this!

$TPR $CPRI Tapestry responds to FTC's lawsuit to block proposed acquisition of Capri Tapestry (TPR) issued the following statement in response to the Federal Trade Commission's attempt to block its proposed acquisition of Capri Holdings (CPRI). "There is no question that this is a pro-competitive, pro-consumer deal and that the FTC fundamentally misunderstands both the marketplace and the way in which consumers shop. Tapestry and Capri operate in an intensely competitive and highly fragmented industry alongside hundreds of rival brands, including both established players and new entrants. We also compete for consumers who are cross-shopping a wide range of channels and brands along a vast pricing spectrum when considering what to purchase. The reality is that consumers have a host of choices when shopping for luxury handbags and accessories, footwear, and apparel, and they are exercising them. The bottom line is that Tapestry and Capri face competitive pressures from both lower- and higher-priced products. In bringing this case, the FTC has chosen to ignore the reality of today's dynamic and expanding $200 billion global luxury industry. This transaction will unite six brands that offer products across a wide range of categories. With Capri, Tapestry will gain access to a broader set of global luxury consumers and geographies and will drive sustainable, healthy growth for Capri's iconic brands, building desire and engagement with consumers globally. Tapestry has a strong record of not only innovating for consumers but also providing industry-leading wages and benefits for our employees. The combined company will continue to set the bar for both consumer and employee experiences. We have full confidence in the merits and pro-competitive nature of this transaction. It will bring significant benefits to the combined company's customers, employees, partners, and shareholders in the U.S. and around the world. We have strong legal arguments in defense of this transaction and look forward to presenting them in court and working expeditiously to close the transaction in calendar year 2024."
