$ARCH Arch Resources reports Q1 EPS $2.98, consensus $3.49 Reports Q1 revenue $680.19M, consensus $596.59M. "During the quarter, our core metallurgical segment - despite headwinds stemming from a weaker pricing environment, logistical disruptions, and lower productivity rates associated with less favorable geologic conditions - delivered another first-quartile cost performance, achieved a $56 per-ton cash margin and generated substantial discretionary cash flow," said Paul A. Lang, Arch's CEO. "These solid results underscore yet again Arch's durable cash-generating capabilities - as well as the value-creating power of our robust capital return program - across a wide range of market environments. We have now deployed more than $1.3 billion in our capital return program since its relaunch in February 2022, inclusive of the just declared June dividend, and expect that total to grow appreciably in coming quarters, with an emphasis on the ongoing reduction in our share count."

$ARCH $HCC Arch Resources downgraded to Neutral on valuation at Citi Citi downgraded Arch Resources (ARCH) to Neutral from Buy with a price target of $170, down from $185. The stock is currently trading at an 11% free cash flow yield on $250 per ton hard coking coal, which represents fair value. The firm now sees equal upside and downside risks. Its preference for met coal exposure is Warrior Met Coal (HCC), which it notes is trading at a 17% yield post Blue Creek, which will start to be delivered in 2024.

$ARCH $BTU $CEIX Consol Energy sinks following collapse of bridge in Baltimore Shares of companies with exposure to coal are moving lower following the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore. The bridge provides the entryway to the Helen Delich Bentley Port of Baltimore, the largest port in the U.S. for specialized cargo, and is also a gateway for bulk cargo like coal and petroleum products. Baltimore was the top loading location for U.S. thermal coal exports in 2023, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Consol Energy (CEIX) says on its website that its Baltimore Marine terminal is one of two coal export terminals on the Eastern Seaboard with the ability to serve the largest ocean-going ships in the world, and the only one served by two rail lines. Shares of Consol Energy are down 8% in afternoon trading while Arch Resources (ARCH) is down nearly 3% and Peabody Energy (BTU) is down 1%.

$GLNCY $TECK $COALINDIA.NSE $ARCH $GSM Like I’ve been saying. Coal isn’t going away for along time. It will take decades to build out more nuclear power plants. It will take decades to build more natural gas fired power generation plants. I’m speaking world wide. Uranium will remain in high demand as well. While solar will continue to grow and offer supplemental energy, it and wind will never produce the combustion the world will require. Long coal, natural gas and silicon. 👍

$ARCH suffering now because a drop in demand from coal is hitting sales. I’m looking at 5 years down the line. I think the company may continue this pull back in the short term but in the long term we are trading well below fair value.

EH moving up nicely. I don’t like CCP stocks. Don’t own any. Regardless, look for some rises with these soon. We are at the very beginning of the idea of EVTOL uptake by the general population. The more good news we get from anyone in the field in these moments is great for all of us. We can fight out superiority later on. Let’s get the public visibility up whenever and wherever we can. SP will follow and fund all the operations if we do.
