@StockHunter75 @RQH Because inventories are at an all time high. There is enough whiskey inventory to fuel the consumtion for 12 years. Whiskey is on average aged for 5. You do you. Last MGPI results showed that the market is feeling the kmpact. I am short $MGPI.

User Image fdtfghbhtfg Posted - 1 week ago

@Antwan61186 No it is going down because whiskey inventories are sky high, sufficient to cover 12 years of consumption. Given the usual aging, they should be (and historically were) at 5 years of consumption. The last results of $MGPI sales showed that retailers are starting to panic, and that's what I expect to see for $BF.B in the next quarters as well. $BF.B is much more verticalized though, and the huge amount of assets in inventory will turn into a liability. I am short $BF.B.

$MGPI Lets do a quick sum of the parts valuation being conservative given the shirking business (all segments in q3). Not exhaustive but .... They bought lux for 2.3x sales and prior to the big bull in aged whiskey, mgp traded for 1 x sales (with no debt). Lets assume that the booze in the barrel currently is a net zero.. thats 1 x valuation . Lets say the ingredients biz is also 1 x. All that gets you a valuation of $1.08b. They have $300 mil in debt as well. Current ev is about $1.35b . Keep in mind that all three of these business shrunk in q3 but lets say that we don't care because they will get back growth at some point. This all gets you a $38-39 valuation being what I would say is a sloppy and reasonable look . I could make arguments that this is too rosy and I could make arguments this is waaay too conservative. But its a base case imo

User Image Trendrebel Posted - 2 weeks ago

$MGPI start to look like a serious rebound candidate. Market Cap almost cut in half on a 10% profit warning 😳. 30% short flow was BEFORE the drop. Looks attractive to acquisition based on valuation.

User Image MYass50 Posted - 2 weeks ago

$MGPI definitely oversold and worst of all 30% of the float is held short! this is going to squeeze hard on any good news

User Image Wonderfulnewz Posted - 2 weeks ago

$MGPI y’all should know that the wholesale barrel side of the business is going to take years to unwind. It’s 50% of the business. That’s why it’s trading like shit. There is 14 years of inventory in barrels throughout the industry after a huge bull market in aged whiskey. That’s shockingly huge and will cause wholesale prices to slide for years. That’s why they bought lux. They needed branded items to capture that spread. The question is can they navigate this transition with investors coming out on top. Idk. Probably worth around $50 if things go right. Much less if things get bumpy.
