The bank continues to target a mid-teens return on average tangible equity in 2024 and 2025, excluding the impact of notable items, while acknowledging the outlook for interest rates has changed, and been volatile, since its first half results announcement in July. HSBC's banking net interest income guidance of around $43B for 2024 remains unchanged and it continues to target cost growth of approximately 5% for 2024 compared with 2023, on a target basis.

The bank's common equity tier 1 capital ratio of 15.2% increased by 0.2 percentage points compared with Q2. The board approved a third interim dividend of 10c per share. HSBC is a highly connected, global business and the plans we set out last week aim to increase our leadership and market share in areas where we have competitive advantage, deliver best-in-class products and service excellence to our customers, and create a simpler, more dynamic, more agile organisation with clearer lines of accountability and faster decision-making. We will begin to implement these plans immediately and will share further details as part of a business update alongside our full-year results in February."

$FAZ While I am essentially hedging against heightened interest rates and a stronger dollar moving forward, I also have a dividend portfolio that over time I do intend to continue to grow, and it has large American banks like $BAC, and also $DB, $HSBC and a plethora of other smaller regional US banks in it as well, held to harvest dividends, and this is the most stable portfolio I have. With that said, the FAZ is traded in a day trading account essentially (though I do admit I'm swinging half of it, as half of it was traded today, and I will repurchase that half again tomorrow at lows, and over time that money that is made trading the hedge of my dividend portfolio, will grow larger, and go back into the dividend portfolio, which is permanent. In that way, I'm only trading the hedge of what I already own permanently. My money is safe and sound, as the hedge protects my investment, and inevitably makes me more money then I would have had before.
