@ccioli90 yes healthcare has also been on my radar I like the CEF $BME. Well managed and trades at a significant discount, at max of its 12 month range atm, with buybacks and tender offers to boost that discount back to NAV. Largest position UNH Did nibble on some $LAND $DEA $ARE $AQN Purely speculative, just want 20 percent return in short order there is all lol

$AQN absolutely no support, in no man's land, fell off my radar that's for sure But was reading long interview where it was randomly talked about. Is it deep value down here? As cash flowing utilities go, maybe? Absolutely no interest left on this board, that's for sure $XLU $HASI $AY Here's the money quote: "And the other one is Algonquin (AQN). Algonquin is a utility that sold off their clean energy assets and is now a regulated utility. They still have solar, but it's not deregulated anymore. And they just closed a $1 billion sale after the last $1.8 billion sale. It's a utility that is getting primed up by private equity investors who bought controlling interest, parted up the company, kept the regulated part." $AQN amazing shorts will pay the dividends here. This is a long.

User Image Bobberty Posted - 5 days ago

$AQN back to 2010 prices. What's the point of being a fully regulated money losing utility? Cut to a sustainable level already. This has gotten comically dumb. No wonder the TSX is underperforming inflation over the past 2 decades.

$BCE well I already own some $NPI $AQN $BB so I may as well add another Canadian tragedy to my portfolio with $BCE. All small positions <1% of my portfolio so far. Maybe some day they'll give a reason to buy bigger into them.

$AQN.TSX $AQN Globe says Algonquin Power remains on TSX 60 index 2024-12-10 09:02 ET - In the News The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday edition that despite a tumble in market value, Algonquin Power & Utilities remains on the S&P/TSX 60 Index of Canada's biggest companies. The Globe's David Milstead writes, however, that if it leaves, don't expect Fairfax to be its replacement. Analyst Jean-Michel Gauthier at Scotia Capital had expected Algonquin might get axed by S&P Dow Jones Indices in its quarterly rebalancing of Canadian stock indexes. He had said Fairfax might be the replacement. When Dow Jones Indices made its announcement Friday, however, no changes were made. Mr. Gauthier noted Monday in a new research note that investors seemed to have expected the swap and since it did not happen, "a short-term relief rally" in Algonquin is possible. He did not address why he thought S&P Dow Jones Indices -- which does not comment on its index choices -- made its decision.

$AQN $NPI.TSX pretty crazy watching most utility companies hitting 52 week highs while investors here cheer for their disaster companies paying unsustainable dividends. Taking on debt to pay dividends is a terrible strategy. Time to cut to a penny dividend and clean the books up.

$AQN Morningstar says the current dividend payout ratio is less than 80% Where are you getting your numbers?

User Image Bobberty Posted - 1 month ago

$AQN they're point of dividends are for lower growth mature companies to pay out excess cash to shareholders because there isn't going to be anywhere to use the cash that gets high returns. AQN taking out debt to pay dividends is next level stupid. It's destroying the company and I don't get how anyone is on board with this idiotic venture. Slash dividend to 1 cent a Q, clean up the books, fire the entire management team and start fresh.

$AQN $AQN.TSX $AQNU Globe says Algonquin Power maintained at "hold" 2024-11-07 07:33 ET The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday, Nov. 7, edition that Desjardins Securities analyst Brent Stadler has an unchanged "hold" recommendation on Algonquin Power & Utilities. The Globe's David Leeder writes that Mr. Stadler trimmed his share target to $4.75 from $5.25 (all figures U.S.). Analysts on average target the shares $5.59. Mr. Stadler says in a note: "Algonquin Power's Q3 results are likely to be noisy and we have reduced our estimates. Further, we have trimmed our 2025 and 2026 estimates to better reflect the expected recovery on the [$1-billion] of prior investments. We continue to view the targeted 60– to 70-per-cent payout ratio as potentially achievable in 2027, implying EPS of [40 cents] at the midpoint. Investors should remain on the sidelines heading into year-end given the potential for downward estimate revisions, tax-loss selling and possible removal from the TSX 60."

$AQN oh no, terrible results again. If only there was some way to shore up their financials while they try and right this sinking ship. Cut the dividend to 1 penny a Q already. This is painful to watch.
