$JBLU $ULCC I really don't see the spirit airlines thing happening with either of these. Of I'm missing something let me know. When they exit ch 11, they will probably have a bit of advantage of they don't screw that up as well. Jmo.

@MissingTwentyF lol yup. They’re next. Their management is learning from ted how to wipe shareholders with zero consequences. I told them they’re next including $ulcc and thry laughed. Hope it happens since they were talking 💩 about us

$SAVEQ to all those $ULCC and $JBLU investors that talked 💩 about spirit, know that you’re next. Their business model is no different. If shareholders get screwed from spirit management, the other ulcc airlines management will know there’s no repercussions from wiping out shareholders. Together we stand, divided we fall. Hope you fall for wishing this on spirit if that is the case

$SAVEQ Yes, Judge Lane will be presiding over the case! Same judge that approved Americans Airlines Ch11 merger with US Airways. What’s next $ULCC merger talk in December? History Doesn't Repeat Itself, but It Often Rhymes

$SAVEQ American Airlines was the last major U.S. airline to undergo a bankruptcy restructuring, in 2011. That yielded a big payout for all interested parties and a merger with US Airways. Keep in mind their shareholders had been expected to be wiped out. Will a similar fate occur with either $ULCC or $JBLU swooping in and emerging as the 5th largest US Airline. Any judge can see the stiff competition and need to merger to preserve the ULCC and LCC segments of the market. Don’t forget American Airlines filled for bankruptcy in Nov and stuck a deal in Dec. Get the popcorn 🍿

Trading in the shares of the U.S. discount airline $SAVEQ was halted on Monday after the troubled firm filed for bankruptcy, following significant financial struggles, due to mounting losses & debt maturities. The filing comes after 2 failed mergers in less than two years – one recently with $ULCC and another earlier in 2024 with $JBLU which left the ultra-low-cost carrier in a bind after repetitive quarterly losses. In October, Spirit announced plans to sell multiple aircraft and lay off workers as it tried to raise cash and revive operations. The airline said the bankruptcy filing will not impact guests' ability to book flights and travel as normal. The stock fell -18.18% at $1.08 before trading was halted. Shares are down -61.29% in the past 3 months, -93.41% in 2024 & -91.54% y/y, with a market cap of $118.28M.

$SAVEQ $ULCC $JBLU $ALGT I never understand why people buy shares of companies that are losing money when there are so many companies making money.

@TheGreedyGremlin $ual down 0.8% after being up over 100% past few weeks. All airlines have been soaring except $save and $ulcc. United, Expedia and Booking made it sound like this is the greatest time for traveling in a generation.

$SAVEQ $ulcc The fact that Frontier stock is tanking gives Spirit a glimmer of hope. The cost savings from the merger could cover the 1.1 billion Spirit needs and after 1/20/25, merger should be blessed quickly.

$ULCC should make a leveraged buyout offer in Bk of Save

$ULCC Frontier should take a page from American Airlines and US Airways merger. At the time of the merger, US Airways was nearly half of American Airlines size. They also did a stock-for-stock transaction where they paid nearly nothing to absorb American Airlines to form the largest airlines at the time. American Airlines file ch11 in Nov 2011, and US Airways merger news were leaked soon after. The official acceptance of the bid was in Apr 2012. The formal merger announcement occurred on Feb 14, 2013. Since $SAVEQ is doing a debt-to-equity-exchange, Frontier can easily come in and beat the current restructure plan. They only need to pay $1.1B in shares (roughly 47% of the new combined company). With a combined entity, they will be better in assuming the remaining 2.2B debt which Spirit is planned to keep anyway post-bk.

$SAVEQ Thanks to our wonderful government, all the low cost carriers will eventually go BK... $ULCC $JBLU etc....

$SAVEQ if $ULCC or $JBLU or $LUV try to buy Spirit after bk exit, it will be more expensive as now they need to pay a premium over the newly issued 1.1B shareholder equity plus assuming 2B debt.
My theory is still Frontier will begin a stalking horse bid, and a bidding war will begin.

$SAVEQ Probably see $ULCC sweep in here and buy them part of a discounted bankruptcy deal and a win for all parties involved. Easier route to “merge” without antitrust/DOJ and is expedited through courts. Get the popcorn!
