$LUV https://www.nerdwallet.com/article/travel/reasons-southwest-is-still-a-top-airline #4 is their Unique Flight Boarding process.! This one thing sets them apart from other airlines. It is a total mistake for them to change what sets them apart from their competition. Anyone who chose SWA specifically for this reason, will consider other carriers now. THINK!

$LUV Southwest hinted months ago that changes were coming. On Thursday, the carrier said it didn’t make the decision lightly. Its research showed that 80% of customers wanted assigned seating and 86% of potential Southwest passengers wanted it too. When these would-be flyers skipped Southwest, the current open-seating model was the top reason, according to the airline.
“It’s clear the open seat model that served us well for so many years is no longer optimal for today’s customer,” Chief Executive Bob Jordan told analysts Thursday. Jordan said on the earnings call he was surprised by the depth of the customer support for assigned seats.

$LUV Bob Jordan needs to resign. Guy knows absolutely nothing about the culture of this company. When you change the DNA of a company as unique as this it spells trouble

$LUV the seating initiative will likely fail, or it's a gimmick to basically increase flight prices, which I suspect is the case.

$LUV the issue with Southwest’s growth is their maxed out of new markets within the US and they have limited international growth. They need more flights to carribean destinations. I forsee assigning seats to be a disaster. They'll have to retrofit all their airplanes.

$luv market value is more than $ual and it is copying $ual strategy. See it's press release yesterday to transform its planes. The only difference is $luv started a turnaround that could fail and it is basically breaking even while $ual is achieving near record profits. Ual has a pe of 2.83 if I annualized it's 2q results and $luv has a pe of 12. The reason I annualized it is because LUVs pe is so high if I don't so I wanted to show you it's absurd valuation for its best quarter vs ual

$LUV Southwest downgraded to Hold from Buy at Deutsche Bank Deutsche Bank analyst Michael Linenberg downgraded Southwest Airlines to Hold from Buy with a price target of $29, down from $32. Despite reporting record revenues driven by record passenger volumes, Southwest continues to experience margin pressure as its revenue generation continues to lag its elevated cost structure, the analyst tells investors in a research note. While encouraged by Southwest's plans to add assigned seats, a premium onboard product, and the launch of red-eye flights, the firm says these initiatives will take time to roll out and are not without execution risk. As such, it sees near-term earnings pressure.
