$SONX I was very impressed by the thoughtful exhibit that Sonendo had at AAE 2024 this year. In the past, it had been geared towards being purely flashy and focused on giving away swag. This year it was obvious they meant business. They had several of the new G4 units available for test drive, had pod casts and live lecturers throughout the course of the show. I was very curious to see what this year would look like and I couldn't have been happier to see they ran a very impressive exhibit while being thoughtful and impactful about it.

$SONX I had another outstanding experience with Sonendo this week. We noticed plastic component on my GentleWave was starting to fatigue. When I mentioned this to my rep, a replacement part was overnighted and too me and arrived first thing the next morning. Easily some of the best customer service on the planet, and yet another prime prime example they are not going anywhere...

$SONX … anatomy. In contrast, the GentleWave creates a true vacuum within the root canal system using a single-use procedure instrument (PI). By creating a vacuum within the tooth, disinfecting solution is drawn to every aspect of the root canal anatomy. Fluid is cycled through to the sum total of 450cc’s. Additionally, acoustic energy is introduced accelerating the action of NaOCl by over 7x. This makes the procedure infinitely more effective, but also faster (roughly a 9-minute protocol). Like any other facet of dentistry or medicine, the old guard is slow to adopt new tech. Some simply don’t think the new tech justifies the cost. There is absolutely no doubt that a greater degree of cleaning and disinfection is being completed. Many endodontists use the GentleWave religiously, and I think it’s only a matter of time before the majority accept it is a key factor in practicing to the standard of care, just as the CBCT and microscope proved to be.

$SONX I think a lot of lay investors understand the gentlewave is a transformative technology, but don’t necessarily know what benefits it offers relative to traditional root canal therapy. The goal of root canal therapy is to thoroughly clean and disinfect a series of tortuous canals within the tooth of dying/dead tissue and bacteria. Failure to accomplish this goal often results in a persistence of infection, a lack of healing, or can even introduce infection where there was none previously. Traditional disinfection protocols set forth by peer reviewed literature necessitate the use of 1) full strength NaOCl (bleach), 2) delivery of NaOCl to within 1mm of the end of each root canal, 3) 6cc’s of disinfectant used, and 4) 40 minutes of disinfection. These ideal guidelines are rarely met, or even achievable. For example, delivering solution through a syringe to within 1mm (of several mm’s) of the root apex is often impossible due to the constricted and tortuous nature of root canal…

$SONX I obviously cannot say when SP will increase, or whether there is any intention of Sonx to be acquired. I can tell you that as someone who uses their technology religiously that I have no doubt they doing just fine now that they are running lean and mean.
