$MET $AIG $PRU $PFG $GL My bf said if the Repubs are in control ... and looks like they will be ... they will repeal the death tax. They attempted to in 2017, but large life ins co donations to Congress stopped repeal. Might have a better shot at it now because there are dif Senators. Even if not repealed, Repubs will reduce the tax, just like they did in 2017. Estate tax drives most life ins sales. So I don't understand why these would be up after the election results ... should be flat or down!

$LNC - This company has definitely turned the ship around and now starting to gather steam. I don't think we will see any major, disrupting, new news under the current CEO. I think she has made sure they flushed everything out over the past year + and now it's all about steady, solid execution. Plus being paid to wait as they grow book value. I'm all in. $PRU $UNUM $MET

$MET "Upcoming Earnings Alert for 10/30/2024 Bearish (2.7) MetLife, Inc. (NYSE: MET) has faced a mixed outlook in recent assessments, with several factors contributing to its current position in the financial landscape. The company has been highlighted for its ongoing strategic initiatives, including the potential acquisition of PineBridge Investments' assets outside of China, which could be valued between $1 billion and $1.5 billion. This move is seen as a way to bolster its asset management capabilities and expand its global footprint. However, the overall sentiment remains cautious due to concerns over its upcoming earnings performance. Analysts are projecting a moderate EPS growth rate, with current estimates suggesting a year-over-year increase, yet some reports indicate that MetLife may lack the necessary momentum to exceed earnings expectations this quarter. The P/E ratio stands at approximately 9.5, which is competitive within the insurance sector, yet the company has faced headwinds from increased competition and potential spread compression impacting its revenue generation. Comparatively, MetLife’s peers have shown stronger momentum in pricing and digitalization, raising questions about its market positioning. The dividend yield remains attractive, currently at around 3.5%, which is appealing to income-focused investors. In terms of upcoming earnings, MetLife is set to release its third-quarter results on October 31, 2024. Analyst consensus estimates indicate that the company is expected to report earnings of $1.35 per share, representing a slight increase from the prior year. Historical performance has shown that MetLife has typically met or exceeded expectations, but the current sentiment is mixed, with some analysts suggesting that recent operational challenges may hinder a significant beat. The stock has seen a 121% appreciation over the past five years, yet the immediate outlook suggests that investors should remain cautious, weighing the potential for a shortfall against the backdrop of ongoing strategic expansions and dividend commitments. Overall, while MetLife's fundamentals remain solid, the combination of competitive pressures and strategic uncertainties contributes to a bearish sentiment leading into the earnings report. - Funds were net buyers of $MET during the previous reporting quarter. - Top 5 funds with large holdings in $MET: * Jennison Associates LLC $226MM.
