Based on current trends and production schedules, Greenbrier is updating guidance for fiscal 2024: Deliveries of 23,500 - 25,000 units, including approximately 1,400 units in Brazil. Revenue of $3.5 - $3.7 billion. Capital expenditures of approximately $140 million in Manufacturing and $15 million in Maintenance Services. Gross leasing investment of approximately $350 million in Leasing & Management Services, which includes 2024 capital expenditures and transfers of railcars into the lease fleet that were manufactured and subsequently held on the balance sheet in 2023. Proceeds from equipment sales are expected to be approximately $75 million.

$GBX holding puts here, why? Because this is a dividend stock for ‘aristocrats’. Plus I am assuming yesterday being up 6% is shorts covering. Either way, if I’m 65% on the year, would I risk a good chunk of that for a 30 cent dividend? Or would I take profits and sit out and decide after earnings to re evaluate a position? What would smart money do? Not that I am smart money which is why I have to think outside the box. The forum says bullish looking for $60 and I say in terms of risk and reward bearish looking for price to hit analyst average at 41.50 which would be a fair entry for a company paying $1.20 in dividends. Plus the amount of turmoil rail companies have gone through this year tells me a strike is on the way.
