$TPC They did indeed win the $1.2B contract for the Newark AirTrain project, which is why this popped on Monday. It's strange that it's dropping today after news of $100M debt paydown and guidance for further debt paydown in Q1. The balance sheet was the primary risk here a couple years ago, but it's rapidly strengthening now. Future tailwinds are also significant with a record $14B backlog and over half of the $1.2T infrastructure bill still yet to be allocated.

$TPC Tutor Perini announces $100M debt paydown Tutor Perini announced that the company has pre-paid an additional $100M of its Term Loan B debt. Building on the paydown of $50M of the Term Loan B debt that was disclosed in the company's November 6 earnings release, Tutor Perini has now successfully deleveraged its balance sheet by $150M in the last month, representing the upper end of its targeted debt reduction plan for the fourth quarter of 2024. As of November 20, the remaining principal balance of the Term Loan B, after these recent paydowns, was approximately $123M. The company recently disclosed plans to pay down an additional $50M-$75M of the Term Loan B debt in the first quarter of 2025, and it now expects to pay down an amount that exceeds the upper end of this range. All the debt repayments mentioned above represent voluntary, early paydowns of the Term Loan B debt.

$TPC Tutor Perini reports Q3 EPS ($1.92), consensus ($1.89) Reports Q3 revenue $1.1B, consensus $1.17B. Ronald Tutor, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, commented, "We have tremendous momentum with several large new project wins in the third quarter that resulted in a new record backlog of $14 billion. This backlog provides us a solid foundation upon which we expect to build a profitable, multi-year revenue stream, with the potential for significant continued growth over the next few months as we look to finalize the contract for the multi-billion-dollar Manhattan Jail, as we announced this morning, and pursue other large projects. We are pleased to put many of our largest disputes behind us, and expect to return to profitability in 2025, with even stronger earnings anticipated in 2026 and beyond, as various newer projects progress to advanced design and enter the construction phase."

$TPC Tutor Perini, Nan JV awarded $330.6M project in Guam Tutor Perini announced that the company, in a joint venture with Nan, Inc., has been awarded a contract with a base value of approximately $330.6M by the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command, Marianas, for the Apra Harbor Waterfront Repairs Project. This is a design-build construction project to repair Guam Harbor's Glass Breakwater and restore and modernize waterfront areas that have been physically eroded and damaged from storms, including the recent Typhoon Mawar in May 2023 at Apra Harbor, Naval Base Guam. The scope of work for the base contract includes repairs to the three most critically failed portions of the Glass Breakwater to minimize future breaching potential of the breakwater. The contract includes nine options for additional anticipated scopes of work that, if exercised, could increase the total contract value by up to an additional $230M. Six of these options are to repair additional sections of the Glass Breakwater, while three options are associated with shoreline repairs to the inner harbor. Tutor Perini is the managing partner in the joint venture, with Nan, Inc. serving as a 30% partner. The company's Guam-based subsidiary, Black Construction Corporation, will be managing the execution of the work on this project. Design work is expected to begin immediately with in-water construction anticipated to commence in August 2025 and substantial completion expected in July 2029. The $330.6M base contract value will be added to the company's backlog in the fourth quarter of 2024 and the value of any future options will be added to backlog as they are awarded.

$TPC Tutor Perini sees negative Q3 EPS, withdraws 2024 EPS guidance Tutor Perini provided an update regarding several recent developments, including the settlement of various project-related disputes, which had both favorable and adverse implications for the company. Because of anticipated cash collections resulting from these settlements and from other unrelated project activities, some of which are driven by new awards, the company expects that its operating cash flow for 2024 will be in the range of $425 million to $575 million, meaningfully surpassing the Company's previous record for full-year operating cash generation in 2023 and significantly greater than previous estimates. The company expects to use this anticipated cash, in part, to prepay its Term Loan B debt by $100 million to $150 million by the end of 2024, with further prepayments of $50 million to $75 million in the first quarter of 2025. Significant new award activity is expected to result in a new record ending backlog of approximately $14 billion as of September 30, 2024, up 35% compared to the backlog reported as of June 30, 2024. The Company continues to expect strong new award bookings in the near term, as it has recently submitted proposals and is awaiting owners' decisions and potential awards for several other large projects. Accordingly, ending backlog for the fourth quarter of 2024 could see further significant growth compared to the result to be reported for the third quarter of 2024. As a result of the net charges discussed below, the company expects that it will report a loss from construction operations and negative earnings per share for the third quarter of 2024. Therefore, the company is withdrawing its EPS guidance for 2024. The company does not expect these net charges to affect compliance with its debt covenants. Excluding the impact of these net charges, the company believes that the third-quarter results would have been profitable, and it would have been in a position to achieve its previously provided EPS guidance range. The company expects to return to profitability in 2025 and will provide guidance for 2025 in February, when it reports its full-year 2024 results.
