$LU The June Caixin Manufacturing PMI for China was 51.8, which was the highest since June 2021. However, the stock market doesn't seem to care and will probably go down anyway.

$LU @Jimmy You must have missed the doubling of the share price in the last few months. And the next price doubler will probably happen when LU reports profits again in August..

$LU Anybody familiar with the “whitewash provision” ?
https://www.pclawyers.com.hk/en/assets/files/newsletter_202003.pdf
I heard from someone that a potential MGO could be waived under certain conditions, as defined in the whitewash provision. Not sure if such waivers could be applied for LU case or not.

$BABA China will have to submit to the one world order before their market returns to normal. Otherwise this is a 10 year hold at minimum, at max your are looking at like 20-30 years of stagflation, and India passing them in the mean time. Better get rid of Xi. $PDD $NIO $LU $JD

$LU How does the stock dividend work? Assumed price is $2.147. That means if I hold 10k shares I get $24200 / $2.147 = 11270 shares? Is it rounded up or rounded down?

$LU I called my brokerage and they told me that Lufax need clearly tell brokerages that this special dividend is a return of capital or Nondividend distribution from share premium account when deliver it for them to record it as a ROC. Otherwise it would be mistakenly recorded as normal taxable dividend. Can anybody send this important message to LU IR ?

$DADA $LU $BZUN Société Générale expects #China's #GDP growth to reach the 5% target in 2024. Exports and manufacturing are expected to be the main drivers, while consumption remains relatively weak. Excess deposits on the mainland account for around 15% of GDP, reflecting weak market confidence. The government is expected to focus on boosting consumption in the second half of the year.

$LU I think there are only a few(?) brokers in Europe where you can choose the stock dividend. I can only get cash.

$LU Note the brokerages need specify “Nondividend Distribution “ in box 3 of 1099-DIV form for a ROC to avoid dividend tax. By the way, ROC does impact capital gain/loss calculation later since the share cost basis is reduced by $2.42.

$LU Thanks to NBI for pointing out ROC classification for the $2.42 special dividend! From the LU $2.42 special dividend announcement, it say “this special dividend is being distributed from the company's share premium account”, which indicates the $2.42 special dividend is a return of capital (ROC).
However, I could not find any LU document that explicitly designate it as a return of capital (ROC). To avoid confusions and potential errors made by brokerages, can somebody inform Lufax investor relation department to update/amend their document to clearly designate this $2.42 special dividend as a return of capital (ROC) and is tax free for LU ADS holders when receive it ? Thanks

$LU Can anybody share how to pay tax if choosing scrip dividend share instead of cash dividend ? Is it taxed only after sold and not taxable when received? Thanks.

$LU From Jeff Boyd on Seeking Alpha: The formula is on page 8 of the linked document below. It is just the way the algebra works. The range of possible values is on page 9. To recalculate it, one would have to have all of the information on outstanding options/shares and know how many people elect scrip. They don't know how many will do scrip, so they provided a range. I've been in the room (not at Lufax) when calculations like that are made; no one enjoys doing it, and they get "messed up" more than I would care to admit if you don't have enough "eyes" look at it who understand it. Then the people drafting the filings all too frequently don't understand either. https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/1816007/000119312524159627/d799882dex991.htm
