Heads up. Bought into $SQY today and $ADX last week. They both go ex-div 11/21 TOMORROW Thursday. SQY paying 1.6699 div pay-date 11/22. ADX paying 1.96 div pay-date 12/19.

@IsidroFernande this could be a big year end and they usually announce (if you can find the announcement) around Nov 12 and CET same date. Can’t find my notes on $ADX but still looking Nov 19 is my last info on ADX

@davoid49 @dennismccain I had a suspicion and thanks for the searching! I’m actually playing with five annuals right now and they all usually come in with big year ends and the exes for three are usually early November )ADX, $GAM and $CET and two ex early December ($TY and TWN)and all pay in late December. Some actually pay twice (a smaller dividend in the spring and $ADX a tiny .05 quarterly if I remember correctly but the big year end is what I like to play with.

@SoftwarePhil thanks that would be very good of you and helpful to me and maybe others who are thinking of buying any of these. $GAM inception 1927 and in their top ten is BRK/A worth millions and millions of dollars. $TY and $ADX inception that famous year 1929. These funds have longevity for sure. All the above can be researched on CEFconnect.

If any of you have access to a site that announces special year end dividends, will someone take a pic and post the info to me? Specifically looking for $ADX, $GAM, $CET, $TY, $TWN. The first three usually announce early November and last two early December. They are usually very nice and used to have a nice guy on ST would give me a heads up but I think he is no longer on ST.

Started a small position to add to my other closed end funds (CEFs) that is for growth and possible year end dividends. This is $TY a Columbia Threadneedle offering that holds all the biggies and again like my other two was first started 1/14/1929. GAM is actually oldest at 1927. $ADX in 1929 too. Small positions in all 3 as just started to accumulate.

$GAM is priced 14% at a discount to NAV and $ADX is 11% discounted! So for all you NAV erosion people here are two NAV very positive funds! Of course the dividends are an after thought so I just buy smaller here as we all need or think we need some growth of some kind in our portfolios in addition to reinvesting big dividends to accelerate it. Growth can be done simply on snowballing the dividend payers themselves but depends on how much you want to be able to withdraw to live on. I have NEVER invested in growth or single large stock risk as I never needed to but in an effort to diversify, why not add something like these two plus the SCHB and SCHD ( forward split 3 for 1 October 10.) and a few other like these for diversity.

I bought a lot more $ULTY as I m bottom feeding for distributions. I also took starter positions in some old favorites and one new one;$GAM which started in 1927 and $ADX which began in October 1929. Neither of these are big on dividends but ADX is 8.33% and GAM at 5% quoted by CEFconnect. These two notoriously give out big dividends at the end of the year so this might be a good time to buy although neither seem to want to go down much.
