@dennismccain Like you I usually avoid non U.S companies. $VEON was one of 4 that I bought during the Ukraine implosion in March of 2022. I have watched for 2 years their CEO navigate sanctions, attempted and recently reversed confiscations of assets under the wrongful guise of oligarchs, stock trading restrictions, asset selling and relocation of the HQ to Amsterdam. Overall, I am impressed with the CEO and his tenacity. I only have 1200 shares after the R/S and hopefully at no cost with a few dividends if they appear. Sidebar: I have been watching with amazement how you have jumped into the more volatile stocks like $DJT $DXYZ $SOUN and navigated to profits. Well done. I am working on my next trading experiment buying under $20 dividend stocks that trade weekly options. I made a list and the plan is to swing trade profits plus sell option premiums in exchange for free shares in a new portfolio. Sort of like getting S&H Green stamps from the 1970's for every purchase.

$VEON This looks ready to run. Not a good trading stock with a float of ~70m shares and trades avg. 12m shares per session. It is an obscure stock of a European phone provider serving 160 m customers and was ravaged by the Ukraine conflict and Russian sanctions. They were trading around $2.75 pre war. The icing on this cake was VEON paying $.60 in annual dividends for a consistent 20%. The suspended the dividend in the 2020 Covid outbreak and were ready to reinstate it when the war broke out. The thesis is they will likely start divis again this summer with $1.75 Billion in cash 16,000 employees and ~$4 billion in revenues plus they just paid off their $800m revolver. Well managed as evidenced with their war navigation the last 2 years. The divi will need to be adjusted now on a much smaller float after a 25:1 RS over a year ago. Doubt it will be 20% but likely still oversized. Long shares in my IRA that I bought for $.28 in March 2022 meltdown and now cost adj. $7.00.

@Mostlikelylater @Joluarias is the timing optimal for IPO's?? I'm not playing devil's advocate, honest question. I assume the conditions might not be great or they need the geopolitical issues to cool down 🤔. I would assume they have a minimum price they want for the towers too. If the economic situation isn't right, I'd rather hold. Correct me if I'm wrong but we are not in a bad spot for cash, even with some refinancing of debt. Shouldn't we receive a better rating since we paid off and closed the line of revolving credit??? $VEON

$VEON selling towers, conducting local ipos will let the business go asset and debt light. For this reason i vestment grade credit rating. Is not required to deal with 2025 maturities.

$VEON our rating is BB vs Turkcell B. Paying down more debt could bring us in the area of investment grade BBB. That should attract the attention of more institutional investors.

$VEON I realise that the comparison is not appropriate because of the income disparity, but just to put in perspective, VEON’s has 160M customers…that’s roughly 1/2 of the US population…and they have very little competition in most markets they serve…
