$SBLK It's kind of hard to agree with the post below by investor7777. Yes, I do not expect this stock to run to $25+ in the current climate, but is it foolish to question today's sell off given our already low valuation to peers? For instance, gnk earned 40 cents per share and has almost the same share price as us now. And what new or unexpected news came out of earnings? We already know rates are down and there's risk with China, that's why we were down 20% recently. Show me another stock with as little risk as this paying a 15% dividend.

$SBLK there are so many shareholders who do not understand the industry in which this company operates and all of the factors that impact dry bulk shipping rates and earnings of the companies that operate in this sector. Most of the comments here today are from people who do not understand why the stock dropped by 5%+ today. If you take the time to read and understand the transcript from today's investor conference call and you still do not understand why the stock sold off hard today, you really need to sell your shares and invest in a company where you do understand the fundamentals of the industry. When you DO understand the industry well, you set realistic expectations for share price performance (none of this nonsense that has been posted here ad nauseum over the past 16 months about how shares will be at $28 by October 2023, at $30 by year end 2023 and then again $30 by year end 2024) and you are neither surprised nor frustrated when shares trade at $17-21 for months on end.

$SBLK only negative that they said on the conference call was if the Red Sea was to open but then they said that Ukraine and Gaza would need to be rebuilt so there would be more congestion from that. I don’t think it will open anytime soon and there should also be plenty of China stimulus if demand falls too low they said. So no reason to think it’s the end of shipping. People always overreact.

$SBLK This is the time to buy...when there is the most fear! Collect the very nice divies and reinvest back into it or another investment vehicle. All the shippers are down. It doesn't make sense but the market never does.

$SBLK My guess for why this is down is because they didn't release any info on q4 bookings. We'll see if that comes out during the call. .

$SBLK Star Bulk Carriers reports Q3 EPS 71c, consensus 73c Reports Q3 revenue $344.28M , consensus 273.14M..."Star Bulk reported Net Income of $81.3 million, EBITDA of $143.4 million and TCE per vessel per day of $18,843 for the third quarter 2024. Consistent with our stated capital allocation policy, our Board of Directors has approved a dividend distribution of $0.60 / share. Our Company remains focused on creating long term value for our shareholders. Since the beginning of 2021, through 15 consecutive dividend payments, we have returned operational free cash flow after debt service of more than $1.33 billion. At the same time we have taken advantage of elevated vessel values having sold 29 vessels, generating gross proceeds of $563 million. Part of these funds have been used opportunistically for share repurchases amounting to $443 million, at prices significantly below NAV, crystalizing a valuation arbitrage. Substantial remaining cash is kept in reserve for future opportunities for fleet renewal, share repurchases or debt repayment. Finally, we have strengthened our financial position having reduced our Net Debt (per vessel) over the same period by 53%. ...On the financing front, we have received approval for a new $130m debt facility to finance the delivery of our five latest generation high specification eco Kamsarmax Newbuilding vessels delivering in Q4 2025 and H1 2026 in China. With this seven-year post-delivery financing in place and the equity for the vessels already secured, the vessels are now fully financed on very competitive terms. Regarding the dry bulk market, we remain optimistic about its medium-term prospects given the favorable supply picture, stricter environmental regulations, and recent steps by the Chinese government to stimulate the economy."
