$PMT "Upcoming earnings: 10/22/2024, Neutral (5.0) PennyMac Mortgage Investment Trust has been in the spotlight recently with several significant developments. The company is set to release its third-quarter results on October 22, 2024, which is anticipated by investors seeking insights into its financial performance. The declaration of a cash dividend of $0.40 per common share for the third quarter has also caught attention, indicating a continued commitment to returning value to shareholders. However, the announcement of organizational changes, including the departure of a senior executive, adds a layer of uncertainty. Despite these mixed signals, institutional ownership remains strong, with 69% of shares held by institutions, suggesting confidence in the company's long-term prospects. On the flip side, insider selling by a high-ranking executive raises questions about their confidence in the stock, contributing to a balanced outlook. PennyMac Mortgage Investment Trust will announce its third-quarter results on October 22, 2024, after the market closes. Management will conduct a conference call at 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time the same day to discuss the results, providing investors with an opportunity to gain insights into the company’s performance and future outlook. @RabbitTRK thanks for the details! the trend lines look a little steadier for $PMT than the once you suggested. I guess I'm curious what the catch is. For $ORC and $OXSQ at least, it looks like you're trading high dividend yield for loss of underlying asset value. $PMT looks more stable so curious if anyone knows if there is asset value loss with this as well. If nothing out of the ordinary as compares to any other stock, I only see upside.

$TWO $MFA $CIM $PMT $DX My caution on the mREIT space here hasn't panned-out, yet... But..... The PCE inflation read on 30 Aug 24 will likely show less declaration in price levels across the economy... If the next leg down in the correction hasn't been triggered by then, this will likely be the trigger....

$TWO $MFA $PMT $CIM $RWT Very strong July consumer spending spending sending the 10 YR UST up 12 basis points this morning... Not so good for mREITs... I don't like the way mPEITs are not responding to good inflation reads... And now this just complicates the forward outlook for rate cuts.....

$MFA $PMT $CIM $RWT $DX I'm just not liking how the overall markets (and mREITs) are trading here giving two great inflation reads... It really feels like the market is heading lower over the short-term, and mREITs will be getting dragged down with them... We may see a further correction here in August, and then recover when the Fed cuts in September, clearing the way for a rally into year-end... Essentially pulling the October correction forward to August....

$TWO $MFA $PMT $CIM $RWT I don't like the way the entire mREIT sector really hasn't budged after two great inflation reports... Something's not right here... We should have seen more upside.....

$TWO $CIM $PMT $MFA $EFC Consumption powers more than 70% of US economic activity... With consumer credit nearly maxed at virtually all incomes levels except the super wealthy, and the average family budget stretched thin by inflation... Consumer spending is about to start falling precipitously for the first time in 30 years... These are very likely some of the top economic indicators Buffett is watching as he makes a big bet on declining (plunging) interest rates.... https://www.cnbc.com/2024/08/06/new-york-fed-credit-card-debt-hits-record-1point14-trillion.html

$TWO $PMT $CIM $MFA $EFC The weekly jobs report was hardly bullish, and when placed within the context of broader economic indicators, the macro picture is signaling a rapid deceleration in economic conditions... The economy is heading for a protracted recession, and rates are about to enter a new period of cyclical and structural decline... The Fed will very likely have to cut rates before its next meeting... If you don't believe that, listen to what Buffett is saying with his bearish portfolio positioning... He's been do this s--- for 200 years, and he knows the drill....

$TWO $PMT $CIM $MFA $EFC Residential mREITs as a group are deeply undervalued given the plunge in US interest rates across the rate curve, and most notably the 10 Yr UST... Residential mREITs should start moving higher as smart money buying over-powers forced carry trade selling... The entire sector should be at least 10% higher here....

$TWO $CMTG $PMT $CIM $EFC Rates won't be going anywhere prior to November... Powell was deeply criticized for keeping rates way too low for way too long before the Fed started its aggressive rate hiking cycle... Which Powell did to help the Dems retain power and preserve his position as Fed Chair... Now Powell faces the reality that the GOP will likely be taking back the senate and White House in addition to holding the House... That means Powell, true to form, will not be cutting rates prior to the election... He simply cannot afford to appear partisan (once again) prior to an election if he plans to survive the election with his office intact... Powell is a self-serving creature of the administrative state... And that strong predisposition for self preservation is really the only thing markets can count on as a predictive factor for interest rates prior to the upcoming election... Rates won't be going anywhere prior to November...

$PMT PennyMac Mortgage reports Q2 EPS 17c, consensus 35c Reports Q2 NII $71.2M vs. $90.5M last year. "PMT's second quarter financial results reflect higher levels of income excluding market-driven value changes and income contributions from all three strategies," said CEO David Spector. "This income was partially offset by net fair value declines, predominantly in the interest rate sensitive strategies due to continued interest rate volatility during the quarter. I am pleased to note that we successfully issued $217 million of exchangeable senior notes and $355 million of term notes secured by Fannie Mae MSRs at attractive levels as we saw improvement in the credit markets during the second quarter. Given the new capital, we expect to deploy more capital to conventional correspondent production in the third quarter, driving organic growth of our MSR investments. Additionally, we will continue to monitor the markets for opportunities to deploy capital into bulk MSR packages and other investments at appropriate returns. With a diversified portfolio of mortgage-related investments with strong underlying fundamentals - and a leading correspondent production business - I remain confident in PMT's ability to continue delivering attractive risk-adjusted returns to its shareholders."
