$MAR Marriott’s third-quarter earnings showed a 3% increase in worldwide RevPar — or revenue per available room — despite an 8% drop in RevPar in China, the company’s second largest market. CEO Anthony Capuano said he does not believe lackluster domestic demand in China will be a long-term problem, pointing to a record-breaking number of hotel signings in early 2024. Corporate layoffs are estimated to save the company $80 million to $90 million per year, and are not a “traditional cost-cutting measure” but a decision to push decision-making from the U.S. to other continents, said Capuano.

$SOND this is relatively standard practice. It's called buying as much time as possible, while remaining within the legal framework. The road to positive cashflow is still quite long but incremental progress is being made. I'm expecting the market cap will at least 4x by the time the $MAR integration is complete.

My current predictions: $AAPL - down to $219 $MAR - up to $287 $VXX - down to $42 I think Putin is just doing what he normally does. Posturing, and then doing nothing of importance. Rinse repeat. He’s practically a dictator. He doesn’t need to “update” Russia’s nuclear doctrine to commit to a nuclear strike, he’d just do it. This event this morning is nothing to be scared over. Putin is going to wait out as long as possible until Trump is inaugurated, and then he’s going to try to make a deal with Trump so he can get a win out of this long war. Putin nuking Ukraine will result in such a difficult time in getting out of this conflict.

$MAR Analyst Q&A summaryfrom last earnings call Cost Efficiency Initiatives aimed at enhancing operations, which are expected to save $80-90M annually in G&A costs starting in 2025. While specifics on SG&A cost projections for next year remain unclear, the company targets reductions from its current cost base RevPAR and Fee Growth forecasts show a 3-4% RevPAR increase, with net unit growth exceeding 6%, though fee growth will vary due to renovation and market conditions. RevPAR growth in China remains uncertain, with flat to slightly positive expectations contingent on economic conditions Market Conditions and Competitive Landscape reveal strong demand in group travel, a stable competitive environment, especially in luxury and premium segments, and growing franchise interest, particularly in midscale offerings The Future Outlook and Guidance suggests 2025 will reflect the latter part of 2024, with consistent RevPAR growth, and continued group travel strength Link in bio --> Full report
