@Optionss12 @Congostockchat at 5%, 2.1M going to get u like 110k/yr or 8k/mo. 20k mo is basically a 9+% yield. That's BDC or MLP type yield. Whatever u do, don't yield chase. Sure there are PIMCO CEF's that pay double digit yields monthly, but the NAV at SP often deteriorate. My favorite BDC's are ARCC, $HTGC $BXSL OBDC. All pay quarterly. Held the first 2 for 5 yrs now in my IRA. Survived and thrived post covid and regional bank crisis. In fact, Hercules and Arcc have stepped into the place of silicon Valley Bank and are getting better deals--especially Hercules. ET is my favorite MLP. U get K-1's so watch it how the tax implications work. BDC's pay ordinary income not qualified divs so 10% BDC is like a 7-7.5% qualified divy like most preferred and regular stock. JEPQ might be best for your situation bc u get about an 8% yield with market upside. Yield is ordinary income not qualified. Frankly, may want to consider buying an apartment complex at about a 50% LTV and live off rents.

User Image Texas12 Posted - 1 month ago

@Congostockchat lol makes sense. Just having fun trolling the millieanals and Gen z folks. So I would definitely swap out some of that CD money for 2big2fail preferreds--higher yield (>6%) with better tax treatment on qualified divy instead of ordinary income on that CD interest. Look at the Wells Fargo L's and Bank of America L's. Also, ET and other MLP's that do K-1's are great for your situation since distributions aren't taxable until they units are sold, and when you pass them on, your heirs get a stepped up basis at current market value. Plus some of the best of breed BDC's like ARCC, $HTGC BXSL, OBDC, etc have much higher yields with some equity upside and even JEPQ has been good with decent yield. These aren't qualified divys though unlike the prefs. My 2 cents. I hold pypl as well. Glty and enjoy retirement
