Uranium mining is hard!
UR-Energy: The production of uranium in restarting deposits is fraught with difficulties and challenges. Future production will fall short of what the market discounts as certain. Just an example, URG's production will be 43% lower than its first 1Q2024 guidance
But URG is not alone!
Kazakhstan did 17% cut for their promised uranium production2025 +lower prod than expected in2026 & beyond!
Langer Heinrich too! ~2.5Mlb production in 2024, in2023 they promised 3.2Mlb for 2024
Dasa delayed by 1y (>4Mlb less for 2025), Phoenix by 2y
Peninsula Energy planned to start production end 2023, but with what UEC dis to PEN, the production of PEN was delayed by a year => again less pounds in 2024 than initially promised BOE EU and UUUU also didn’t reach the promised amounts of uranium production for Q1, Q2 & Q3 2024
I’m also investing in Sprott Physical Uranium Trust and Yellow Cake

Hi everyone,
1) What’s the difference between early2018 till ~2H2023 & now?
The global surplus inventory created in2011-2017 (inventory X) used to solve the global structural primary uranium deficit since early 2018, is now mathematically depleted
With inventory X & western underfeeding gone, most lbs sold through spot by Uranium One & others in 2H2024/2025 will be lbs from CURRENT productions, not old lbs of old stockpiles!
Current production = primary production, not secondary supply
Consequence: each lb uranium bought by a producer now is a lb taken away from another stakeholder (another producer, an utility or intermediary) used to buy some uranium in spotmarket in the past!
With spot lbs from primary supply you don’t solve the primary deficit
Producers, Utilities & Intermediaries ⚔️ for the same lbs of uranium from current production
1/3

Total operable reactors in West:280,551Mwe (70% of🌎 capacity today)
Total operable reactors in🌍: 395,388MWe
While #uranium prod from Asian countries in 2022:29,400 tU (60% of🌍 prod)
🌍 uranium prod 2022:49,355
West is 70% ☢️capacity vs West+Africa producing 40%
Now Putin talked about restricting uranium export to the West

A part of uranium lbs secured by utilities for delivery in 2H2024/2025 aren’t available in 2H2024/2025!
So utilities think they secured their ST needs, but in reality part of that ST supply is uncertain now

Utility: Can you sell us uranium at 79 USD/lb?
PDN/EU/BOE/PEN: No, we already covered 100% of our fixed cost with a part of our production. The remaining is for future much higher profits. Go cancel your fuel rods production
UUUU/URG/UEC: No, we need higher price to make a profit

The main subjects discussed by utilities, fuel buyers/brokers,producers & others attending the World Nuclear Symposium starting next week will be:
1) shortfall +Proposed downgrades to permitted Subsoil Use agreements
2) utility not able to find equivalent of <1 year consumption for 1 1000Mwe reactor & going semi-public in hope to find some lbs
3) 🇰🇿AISC ⬆️ due to increasing taxation in a way that incentives to keep production LOW!
followed by utilities looking to increase their uranium inventories to increase their supply security, bc uranium supply can’t be trusted anymore
Why can uranium supply not be trusted anymore?
Bc KAP,CCJ,Orano & couple smaller producers,… are all selling more uranium to utilities than they produce
while:
- U1 has less to sell in spotmarket bc 100% of U1 share comes from…well, Kazakhstan 🇰🇿
- inventory X is mathematically depleted

End of low season in uranium sector is nearing
1) ~2weeks of end of holidays season: decision makers of commodity trading desk back at their desk
2) World Nuclear Symposium in less than 3 weeks
3) New purchase budgets of 🇺🇸 utilities that others will try to frontrun

I have prepared a detailed overview on enCore Energy (EU) that I will post tomorrow
I can already say that my updated analysis on the company in this overview confirms my preference for enCore Energy over other US uranium miners (but I’m invested in 5 different US miners due to their importance for the US uranium supply security)
EU and PEN are the cheapest today
EU is steadily increasing production, has zero debt + cash position to finance the production increase over coming 3 years
Just waiting for update cash position tomorrow, before posting my overview on X & Stocktwits
Cheers

Something positive from this unexpected correction due to factors outside the uranium space:
Did you notice the huge discount over NAV of Mega Uranium (MGA) lately? 🥳
MGA, an uranium fund on steroids and held by URA, URNM, URNJ etf’s
At an unchanged NAV, a 50% MGA share price increase is needed to close the huge discount of today 🙂
But with the upcoming high season in the uranium sector, the NAV of MGA will also increase => imo, a booster on the future share price increase of the underlying holdings
Picture: Mega Uranium MGA conservative Net Asset Value on Thursday August 8th, 2024 after closing of stockmarket: 0.3897 CAD/sh
MGA share price only at 0.26 CAD/sh
I used a zero value for the warrant positions and for the Maureen Property
And just now NXE announced magnificent drill results!
NXE is the biggest position of Mega Uranium
Cheers

1) A few weeks ago KAP announced that Kazakhstan is increasing production cost of 40% of global uranium production because they want more revenue for their country (understandable) => increases production cost for KAP and the JV partners Orano, CCJ, Uranium One, CNNC, CGN => production cost curve of uranium sector increases => seller asks a higher sell price => uranium price increases
2) uranium LT price continues to increase based on fundamentals, while uranium spotprice today is only ~5% higher than LT price
3) No back up stockpile anymore to solve 🌎primary supply deficit => significantly higher upside pressure on spotmarket in upcoming high season

Fyi. The uranium price jumped higher today. Now above 93USD/lb. The upward pressure in the uranium spotprice will increase in coming months and beyond, bc there is much more uranium demand than anticipated & not enough future new uranium production in coming years to solve the structural deficit
~50% increase in uranium spotprice in 2H 2024, will not surprise me
There just isn’t enough for everyone, while uranium demand is price inelastic
