$UNP $CSX $PLTR Seems to me transports would be a prime candidate for pltr Gotham. The process should be easy to model and would be a logical extension of the precision railroad concept. Pltr being used similarly in aviation…
Saw this beast this past summer out west. If you get an opportunity to see Big Boy, take advantage of it. Very impressive.

$CSX The Jacksonville, Fla.-based company, whose rail network covers a big part of the eastern half of the U.S., said in its earnings report Wednesday lower fuel prices and a more sluggish coal market would cost it around $200 million in fourth-quarter sales. CSX said the recent hurricanes would weigh on margins in the second half of the year.
Management said it expected shipping volumes to be up “modestly” during the fourth quarter, thanks to demand for food, crops, chemicals and other merchandise. But it noted “softer-than-expected” demand related to metals and automobiles, and said a “weak trucking market” would “remain a near-term challenge.”
CSX forecast capital expenditures of around $2.5 billion, “excluding rebuild of infrastructure damaged by recent hurricanes.”

$CSX CSX announces receipt of SEC subpoena relating to accounting restatement In a regulatory filing, CSX said that in October, it received a subpoena from the Enforcement Division of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission requesting information relating to, among other things, the accounting restatement disclosed in the company's August 5, 2024 10-Q. The company has also been responding to information requests by the SEC related to certain of the company's non-financial performance metrics. The company said it is cooperating with the SEC and providing information responsive to these requests. While the company believes its reporting complied with applicable requirements in all material respects, the company cannot anticipate the timing, scope, outcome or possible impact of the investigation, financial or otherwise.

$CSX: In the wake of J.B. Hunt's better-than-expected Q3 earnings report on Tuesday night, which featured a return to positive volume growth for its intermodal business, hopes were high that railroad operator CSX's Q3 results followed the same track. That wasn't the case, however, as CSX fell short of EPS estimates and lowered its Q4 expectations for volume and revenue growth. Specifically, CSX guided for revenue to be down moderately on modest volume growth. Previously, the company was anticipating mid-single-digit growth for both revenue and volume in 2H24. Unfortunately, the modest momentum that the company saw in its intermodal business faded a bit as revenue dipped by 2% to $509 mln (14% of total Q3 revenue) and volume grew by just 3% in Q3 compared to last quarter's 5% growth. https://www.briefing.com/story-stocks/archive/2024/10/17/csx-goes-a-bit-off-the-rails-today-after-posting-disappointing-q3-earnings-report-(csx)?utm_campaign=storystocks&utm_medium=social&utm_source=st&utm_content=link
