$CRC Investigators from the California Governor’s Office Emergency Services filed a hazardous materials spill report, detailing an overflow of petroleum coming from an offshore platform belonging to Beta Offshore. Beta Offshore operates three oil platforms in federal waters off the coast of Long Beach, according to the U.S. Department of the Interior. The state’s report also noted that once the petroleum leak was detected Thursday night, Beta Offshore shut down the line and deployed a boat to check for an oil sheen. https://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/oil-spill-off-huntington-beach-coast-being-investigated/3359029

$CRC California Resources sees FY24 capital program $300M-$340M CRC's 2024 guidance estimates exclude the pending merger with Aera. The Company intends to update guidance after the transaction closes. CRC expects its total 2024 capital program $300M-$340M assuming normal operating conditions. Of this amount, $250M-$260M is related to oil and natural gas development, $30M-$40M is related to maintenance of one of its gas processing facilities and a power plant, both of which are located in CRC's Elk Hills field, $15M-$25M is for carbon management projects and $5M-$15M is for corporate and other activities. Through 2024, CRC expects to run a one rig program executing projects using existing permits. Subject to the availability of well permits, the Company expects to increase to a four rig program in the second half of 2024. The actual amount of spending related to oil and gas development under CRC's 2024 capital program will depend on a variety of factors....

$CRC buying AERA for $2.1 billion including debt doesn't say great things about $BRY valuation. They are all primarily producers in the California San Joaquin valley. AERA is 75k BPD at 96 percent oil. BRY is 25k BPD at 95 percent oil. AERA has about 265 million barrels of reserves, BRY has about 100 million barrels of reserves. BRY should have one third the enterprise value of AERA or $700 million. BRY has $428 million in DEBT and 75 million shares outstanding. Meaning BRY should be about $3.60 per share. Granted BRY has C&J well services...which may be worth another $1 per share. Still...that leaves BRY about 35 percent overvalued by this comparison.
I am a BRY shareholder, so I don't like this comparison. AERA was not publicly traded and it's possible the Canadian pension fund just sold out cheaply because AERA was illiquid and they had some ESG metric. But still, this acquisition doesn't look good for those (including me) that were hoping CRC would buy BRY.

$CRC California Resources sees Q4 free cash flow $40M-$60M California Resources updated select guidance ranges for the fourth quarter of 2023 in conjunction with its participation in various investor conferences later this month. CRC's fourth quarter of 2023 free cash flow is expected to range between $40M-$60M primarily due to higher margins earned from natural gas marketing activities and lower investments in carbon capture and storage related subsurface land easements. This free cash flow update exceeds the previously announced fourth quarter 2023 guidance range of ($5M)-$30M. Total net production for the fourth quarter of 2023 is expected to range between 82-84 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day, which falls in line with previously issued guidance. Approximately 60% of total net production for this period is expected to be oil. Capital investments for the fourth quarter of 2023 are expected to be in the $65M-$75M range from the previous guidance range of $65M-$81M....
