$GO Another company being strangled by an SAP/Oracle debacle. Once the very expensive system contractors get embedded they can bleed a company to no end grinding along slowly to configure the beast. This ERP system can bring a brutal artery hemorrhage if not done well; such is the case happening here.

$GO RJ on earnings call said systems upgrade issues was a disappoint and will still hit in Q224 but expect gross margins to return back to normalcy in Q3/Q4. I surmise, it may take longer. Systems issues are never smooth and on-time. Especially, GO this time is doing a major upgrade of inventory and product tracking to scale in the future.

@Nelsin $GO Grocery Outlet is in my rotation of stores along with Safeway, some local stores specializing in fresh produce, and rarely Whole Foods. I feel like I have a good handle on food prices vary between the stores and there are definitely great deals to be had at Grocery Outlet which led me to their stock. No position. My hesitance is a gut feeling that you are right. Yeah there are some great prices sprinkled around in there but how much profit could these sales possibly be making the company? And they have to stick with minimal profit margins on all other items as well. They target customers who have minimal discretionary income and bargain hunters...upside is going to be limited and more profits can only come from more churn. That's a very linear process. Then, as you mention, the drug addicts loitering in the parking lot and the SWAT team looking security by the doors is also a huge turn-off that is also inevitable given their customer base.

$GO I've shopped here almost exclusively for many, many year by choice. I'm very frugal. I also hold the stock. And I know the owner of my local store well. He's upbeat, but I believe their business model is broken. Not many real deals. Mostly loss leaders filling the shelves because there's simply no great surplus of goods going bad in warehouses anymore. They can't grow sales selling Milk and Top Ramen for cheaper than Safeway or Kroger, and Albertsons. Minimum wage increases are also killing their profitability. And let's not even talk about the theft. More cameras than customers. I added a few on the dip. But I'm not confident. $SPY

$WMT the nation’s largest retailer, said it removed self-checkout lanes and replaced them with cashier-staffed lanes at locations including stores in Cleveland and Shrewsbury, Mo (I wonder what those locations have in common...) When checkout access is limited, some stores are designating self-checkout lanes for Walmart+ customers, who pay a membership fee of $98 a year. They are following the successful model of $COST and pretty soon all stores will be member only thanks to Dems soft on crime policies. I was in $GO yesterday and there were no more shopping baskets to shop with, I asked what happened and the cashier said people keep walking out with them.
