$BIG Peter Lynch in the book One Up On Wall Street wrote that companies should spend lavishly on their headquarters, so they stand out among the competition. Look at the pathetic headquarters of $OLLI and compare that to the four floor two winged building with a lovely park, and which is the Big Lots headquarters. @Jim_Tom1 I’m overweight long $OLLI.
Having said that, it’s not the shorts who are the problem here, it’s an excessive amount of shares coming onto the market from insider sales.
I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating, management has done an outstanding job and deserves to be appropriately compensated. However, they need to start a share repurchase program that at least offsets the dilutive effects of that compensation.
They aren’t aligning their interests with shareholder interests.
Having said all of that, this was a one time event, the stock will absolutely recover. This is a BID, BUY opportunity.

@ScionLion Big lots has had trouble with suppliers and doesn’t have the expansion plans of Ollie’s.
After I wrote this post I looked up their financials and did an Edgar search. They ($Olli) have had significant dilution through insider selling the last week or so.

Turns out this is due to some serious dilution as insiders/management sold large numbers of shares and vested options.
Disappointed in Management. They need to institute a buy back program to at least offset the deleterious effects of management compensation programs. This management team deserves to be rewarded for what has been outstanding performance of the underlying business, but they also need to consider the interests of shareholders.

$OLLI I sold some April ‘24 $75 puts this morning, and they’re already underwater.
Not worried though, I should have waited until later in the day when the profit taking was over. Ollies is a solid company on a great growth path with the ability to double its size in the next 3-5 years.
Those puts will expire worthless and I’ll walk away with the premiums. I just got excited at the top and bottom line results and pulled the trigger a bit too early in the day.
The biggest surprised to me wasn’t top and bottom line beats, but rather than same store sales were up so significantly.

$OLLI: Ollie's Bargain Outlet's (-0.4%) is trading flat after reporting Q4 (Jan) earnings results this morning. Q4 is typically OLLI's largest revenue quarter of the year, so it's important, and investors generally like what they see. That includes nice upside EPS while revenue was in line, maybe very slightly below analyst expectations. OLLI also topped $2 bln in annual sales for the first time. We got our first look at FY24 guidance. EPS and revenue guidance both came in below analyst expectations.
